Essential Settings and Requirements for Viewing the Image Collections
For Internet Explorer using Microsoft Windows
Step 1: Under the View menu, go to Internet Options / Settings...
Step 2: Under "Check for newer versions of stored pages" menu, select the "Every visit to the page" radio button.
Step 3: Under the "Temporary Internet files folder," set the amount of disk space to at least 50 MB.
For Internet Explorer using the Macintosh Operating System
Step 1: Under the Edit menu, go to Preferences...
Step 2: Under the "Web Browser" tab, select the "Advanced" sub-menu.
Step 3: Modify the "Cache" settings to Update Pages: "Always"
Step 4: Set the Cache size to about 5 MB. This will help force the use of real memory instead of disk caching.
We also strongly encourage Macintosh users to allocate a minimum of 40 MB RAM to Internet Explorer.
Using AOL?
Please make sure you are using the latest version 5.0 or above. Versions earlier that AOL 4.0 do not support Explorer or Java.
System Requirements
Run Browser Insight on a PC or Mac that has a 166 MHz processor or faster. Collections process faster when images are kept in memory. The more memory, the better the collection performance. You should have at least 800 x 600 screen resolution and 16-bit color depth. You can use 8-bit color, but will lose a significant amount of image quality in the collection.
